MY Euro 2016 journey continued with a drive to Luton Airport on Sunday morning for a 2pm flight to Lyon.

My mates Ketts and Lofty arrived at 12.30pm. They took a day trip with Sport Options who chartered a plane from Luton into the provincial St Etienne airport.

Ketts and Lofty have been reading these blogs and insisted I make a correction as they come from Ivinghoe, Aston and not Luton! Lofty supports Luton and hence my incorrect assumption. Ketts and Lofty brought their St George kit, which they wore at the game.

We had a fantastic afternoon and met up with our mates from Nottingham, whom we'd met at the first game in Marseille.

We made our way to the game and sadly the rumour that Roy Hodgson was going to make up to six changes materialised. Myself and most of the England fans I spoke to believed this was a mistake as the pattern of the game confirmed.

We offered no real threat up front. Neither side created any real chances and the consensus after the game was that Roy missed an opportunity to bed in his best starting eleven.

His logic was to give his key players a rest, but they would have had four clear days before the Saturday game in Paris.

Finishing runners-up in our group means we know play in the last 16 of the knock-out stages in Nice on Monday and at the time of writing we don't know whether our opponents will be Portugal, Hungary, Austria or Iceland.

My son Ben, has now finished his ‘A’ Levels and was able to book our trip to Nice straight after the game on Monday night.

We fly from Bristol direct on Sunday and are staying in the Holiday Inn in Nice.

Roll on Sunday/Monday and hopefully we can put together a convincing performance to progress to the quarter-finals.
