SweetFuels CDCA Division One

Sherston Magna 148-5

Cricklade 147 all out

CRICKLADE’S great start to the CDCA League Division One season came to a grinding halt on Saturday with a loss by five wickets away at Sherston Magna.

Cricklade, missing several key players, won the toss and decided to bat in overcast and muggy conditions. The innings got off to an ominous start when skipper Danny Lloyd was caught off the first ball of the game, and Cricklade were struggling at 36-4 before a good partnership between Darren Fisher (44) and Jono Walter (36) helped the team to a respectable 147 all out.

Ben Dickenson (5-25) and Andy Pegg (3-27) were the pick of the home bowlers.

Cricklade were hopeful of defending this total but those hopes were all but extinguished by a lighting start by Sherston, who were 72-0 off just eight overs, James Kutchera scoring a rapid 55 off just 38 balls. Accurate bowling from Darren Fisher (2-23 off 10 overs) and Angelo Rigali (2-24 off 10 overs) dragged Cricklade back into the game but Ian Gould (31 not out) saw the home side over the line for the loss of just five wickets.
