COTSWOLD Cycles Race Team have signed Gloucester based mountain biker Andy Weaving for the remainder of the 2016 season.

Weaving will strengthen the veteran side of the team with his wealth of experience. He has ridden in more than 320 races and rode for Great Britain at the 1998 mountain bike World Championships in Mont Sainte-Anne, Canada.

He finished ninth overall in last year’s National Points Series, third in the Southern Cross Country Series and has gained top 10 positions in all his eight veteran races of 2016.

“I am very excited to be joining Cotswold Cycles mountain bike team and riding with Iain Wight in Grand Veteran classes,” said 52-year-old Andy.

“It is an amazing opportunity to be part of a team again at this stage in my career, and being able to train with National Champion Marc Chamberlain will be invaluable.”

Andrew Hutchings, owner of Cotswold Cycles, said: “Andy’s passion for cycling, dedication and consistency is inspirational.

“He is a fantastic ambassador for the sport and we look forward to supporting him for the remainder of this season, and in 2017.”

In his first race for the team, the Southern Cross Country Series Round Four at Crow Hill, Andy finished seventh in his category.
