Cirencester AC and Triathlon Club

British Triathlon, Nottingham.

LUKE CAMPBELL of Cirencester AC has won a number of local parkruns but this sprint triathlon was his first senior competitive tri and he learned a lot as he encountered swans and elbows in the swim and difficulty getting out of his wet suit at the transition.

Still not 16, Luke was delighted with his 1:03.16, which included a fast 18.32 5km and a ninth place overall finish in the Under-19 category.

Comrades Marathon, Durban to Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, 88km.

MARTIN CROUCHER ran this gruelling race for the fourth occasion in virtually the same time as last year but he said: “This was the best. The finish in the stadium was emotional and sent tingles down the spine.” His time was 9hr 57min.

Hatfield Broad Oak 10km.

BILL LEGGATE enjoyed a strong racing comeback from an ankle injury to finish 15th out of 1,215 in a time of 36.06.

Westonbirt Sprint Triathlon.

ALTHOUGH held up by a tractor at one point, Terry Ranger was pleased with his position in the supervet category and 78th overall in 1:18.05 on a cool, gloomy morning.

That gloom was lightened by the news that Chris Riches, (running in Flying Monk colours), despite undergoing continuing debilitating cancer treatment, completed the race in 1:45.01, which was 11th supervet and 384th out of 427 finishers.

Parkruns, 5km trails.

CIRENCESTER junior Eva Porter ran brilliantly to win the ladies' race in Swindon in 20.05, finishing 25th overall with David Moss, Barbara Thomas and dad Ian in her wake.

At the Fell Foot Parkrun in Windermere Howard Ewan beat the conditions to come sixth in 18.31 and Geoff Wells, in Marple, Stockport, finished 56th in 23.01. Cheltenham saw good runs for Denise Ewbank, Ruth Fulford (first FV65) and Robin Lloyd. There were 1,300 runners in these four parkruns.
