CIRENCESTER ABC's Lewis Varey stormed through to the semi finals of the England Boxing Schools and Minors Championships with a spectacular win over Oliver Bolton from Canvey ABC in Ipswich.
Varey, fighting in the 44.5-46kg weight category, took the bout to Bolton, catching him with a number of combination punches.
This was the pattern throughout all three rounds with Varey winning on a unanimous points decision.
Lewis now faces a good opponent in Aaron Smith from Pinewood Star ABC in Sunday's Southern semi final at the Stantonbury Leisure Centre in Milton Keynes.
Unfortunately there was disappointment for Lewis' cousin and team-mate Johnny Varey who lost on a points decision in Ipswich.
Cirencester also travelled to Wales to a show hosted by Merlin Bridge ABC on Friday night when Thomas Varey clinched a unanimous points decision over the experienced R Christopher from Pembroke ABC.
Varey dominated all three rounds, catching his opponent with straight punches which sent Christopher's head jolting backwards.
It was another all-action bout and an impressive triumph for Varey.
Club team mate Billy Harris stormed to a unanimous points decision against the more experienced A Lawrence from Cardigan ABC, boxing well behind a tight guard and landing straight left and right hand punches.
Cirencester coach Simon Knowles said: ''What a season the club is having.
"Lewis has got a good opponent to face this weekend in Aaron Smith from Pinewood Star.
"Both boys have got good records and it promises to be a hard bout."
