JASON DOYLE is an injury doubt for Thursday’s Elite League with King’s Lynn Stars after his latest race fall.

Swindon Robins skipper Doyle faces a spell of rehabilitation after being left with “an ankle the size of a brick” after a crash at Zielona Gora on Sunday.

Racing in the Polish Extraliga, Doyle came off in heat 12 and was stretchered off the track in the 46-44 home loss to arch-rivals Gorzow.

It was feared he could have sustained a broken ankle, but initial hospital checks confirmed there were no breaks, although he does have severe bruising and swelling.

Posting on his Facebook account, Doyle wrote: “Had a crash last night in Poland, no broken bones just an ankle the size of a brick and bruising on my lower back.

“Thank you for all the kind messages and support. Need to rest and make it 100 percent right.”

Doyle, who suffered a broken back during a fall at his home Grand Prix in Melbourne last year, is hitting the deck with some regularity at the moment.

He missed Swindon’s 50-40 away victory at Belle Vue on May 11 – being replaced by Coventry's Chris Harris – after crashing at successive meetings in Poland and Sweden the previous weekend.

Doyle is unable to ride for Rospiggarna in Sweden tonight and it is unclear when he will be fit to resume racing.

Swindon travel to King’s Lynn on Thursday and then entertain league champions Poole on Bank Holiday Monday at the Abbey Stadium with a 4pm start.
