Oxfordshire Women 107 Gloucestershire Women 120
GLOUCESTERSHIRE'S women, for the first time in a couple of seasons, began their Middle England League campaign by gaining revenge over Oxfordshire at Witney BC. The winning score was 120-107.
The best rink was that of Sally Rolls (Gloucester Spa), Elaine Lewis (Redland Green), Veronica Richie and Di Wilson both (Olveston) who ran out 26-12 winners.
Maddie Hale of Fairford was also on a winning rink. Alongside Fran Stockford (Olveston), Lin Challenger (Page Ladies) and Julia Stannard (Nailsworth) her quartet powered away to win 24-13.
Tetbury's Val Smith, playing with Val Ayres (Lydney), Sue Osbourne (Kingswood & Hanham) and Joy Sheward (Cheltenham Whaddon), were also comfortable 21-15 victors.
Cirencester pair Pam Ayres and Ann Jones were not so lucky, going down 25-17 on their rink when playing with Joyce Ferson (Barnwood) and Ann Boaden (Begbrook).
Leicestershire Women 119 Gloucestershire Women 106
GLOUCESTERSHIRE'S women were on the wrong end of a 13-point defeat away to Leicestershire in the Middle England League.
They won on just two rinks, Moreton pair Joyce Ferson and Rita Gerry (Moreton) helping their team-mates Janet Tomlinson (Bishops Cleeve) and Margaret McColl (Cheltenham Spa) to a 21-15 victory.
The quartet including Jenny Stanfield (Moreton) went down narrowly by 19-17.
Cirencester's Pam Ayres suffered a 20-15 defeat when playing alongside Chris Prosser (Gloucester Spa), Pauline Gunn (Caer Glow) and Sue Latham (Olveston) having been 9-1 behind early on.
