THE county's netball community came together at the University of Gloucestershire for the traditional annual presentation evening to award all the cups and trophies from the year's competitions.

A total of 21 junior awards and 22 senior awards were presented by four VIP guests: Anita Navin, Ella Powell-Davies, Denise Egan and Gilly Salter.

Navin is head of school for sport and exercise at the university and also commentates on netball for Sky Sports. Powell-Davies is vice-captain of Team Bath NPL and recently played in England's European U17 Championship-winning side in Gibraltar.

There was celebration of netball players from the county that have achieved success at a national level, including Under-16 team Hucclecote Flames who finished sixth in the national finals in Newcastle.

Two special awards were made to club volunteer of the year Vicki Wood and county volunteer of the year Andrew Taylor.

Wood has played a central role in Cheltenham-based club United over recent years and was instrumental in them receiving a national sports club accreditation. Taylor is Hucclecote's media officer.

Cirencester Phoenix finished runners-up to Hucclecote Eagles in both the Under-13 league and Under-13 tournament.

Cirencester Phoenix finished runners-up to Hucclecote Dragons in the Under-14 County Cup.
