Gloucestershire FA Walking Football League Championship
ABBEYMEAD Rovers justified their position as favourites to win the first Gloucestershire FA Walking Football League Championship after the round of games were held in Bristol last week.
However, somewhat hampered by injuries, they failed to maintain their unbeaten record when Stroud defeated them 4-3 in a very close final game.
A much-improved Stroud side managed to win all three of their matches and the victory over Abbeymead meant they overtook Cirencester Phoenix Force to finish in second place.
This inaugural season has proved to be highly enjoyable and well supported, with the second season's league fixtures expected to begin in September.
