CIRENCESTER PGA professional Ed Goodwin and club amateur James Harding have their eye on the prize at Europe’s biggest pro-am.

Harding landed the chance to have a tilt at the grand final of the Lombard Trophy when he won Cirencester Golf Club's qualifying competition with a net score of 67.

Eight-handicapper Harding is a 26-year-old engineer from Cirencester and has been playing golf for 14 years.

Goodwin, 41, has been a professional at Cirencester for 11 years.

The pair now tee up in a forthcoming Lombard Trophy regional final at Little Aston Golf Club on June 7, one of 14 regional finals being staged across the UK.

They will be up against 64 other clubs with the winning club going through to compete in the 36-hole final at Portugal’s luxurious Pestana Vila Sol Golf & Hotel resort on the Algarve in September.

Last year's winners were PGA professional Jason Levermore and amateur partner Ben Steed from Channels Golf Club, Essex.
