CIRENCESTER head pro Ed Goodwin finished his eight-month 'winter' schedule with a flourish by coming runner-up in the Total Triumph Strokeplay Championship at Mendip Spring Golf Club as the Gloucestershire & Somerset PGA campaign came to a close.
Goodwin shot 72, 73 for a three-over-par total of 145 in the season-closing strokeplay event which left him three shots adrift of Chipping Sodbury teaching pro Giuseppe Licata.
But fifth-placed Ross Langdon, the former South Cerney pro, confirmed his place at the top of the G&S PGA Order of Merit. Licata had held the Order of Merit for the past two years.
For Langdon it was a successful return to the G&S PGA following a couple of years away in Wiltshire and the Order of Merit title is testament to the consistent level of superb golf he has shown throughout the winter.
