CIRENCESTER entered two teams in the Cadet League against teams from Bristol, Swindon, Evesham, Nailsworth, Stroud and Gloucester.
The A side of Tom Powlesland, Scott Bramley, Luke Pennington and Willem Hancock won Division Two by a massive 14 points and produced the following averages: Hancock (73%); Powlesland (71%); Bramley (61%).
The B side of Josh Bramley, Kit Warner, Will Evans and Will Smith came sixth in Division Two.
In the National Junior League, Cirencester's side finished sixth in Division One.
Les Landon Trophy
The Les Landon Trophy is presented to the most improved junior in the club and this year went to Tom Powlesland.
Landon was a founder member of the club as well as a former chairman. He passed away 11 years ago but is well remembered by those in the club who played with and against him.
His consistent encouragement to the young players helped the club grow to its present day strength.
Tom, aged nine, is ranked fifth in the country at U10 and at number 19 in the England U11s.
He recently finished runner-up in the Plymouth two-star competition after losing a close five-set battle in the final. He also finished runner-up in the U11 Gloucestershire Closed tournament, again just losing out in five sets.
Another strong candidate was Scott Bramley who won the Gloucestershire Schools U11 tournament and recently represented Gloucestershire in the National Schools final against many of the best U11s in the country, only missing out on the last 16 on countback.
Scott is ranked at number 30 in the country at U11 and beat the number 17 in the country to reach the Schools final.
Both Tom and Scott have received invites to attend the National Championships being held at Preston in June.
Meanwhile Joe White and Anton Barnett reached the final of the U18s doubles competition in the Gloucestershire Closed.
