Alexcars Junior Charities Cup Final

Hatherop 4 South Cerney Res 0

FRESH from their county cup win on penalties over Kingsway Rovers the previous week, South Cerney Reserves were expected to give Hatherop a stern test in the Alexcars Junior Charities Cup Final, particularly as they are one of only two sides to beat them in the league this season.

But it was not to be as in front of a good Corinium Stadium crowd of more than 130 the experienced Hatherop side ran out comfortable winners with all four goals scored by Richie Crocker, whose final strike made it 68 from 27 games.

Two of the goals were from the penalty spot but this was by no means an ill tempered or difficult game for Brian Woodcock and his officials to manage.

Hatherop manager Dave Legg said: "What a great set of lads considering we started with only six players at the beginning of the season when the club was reformed."

Hatherop have one more cup final to play this season when they take on the winners of Thursday's replayed CIA Mill-Roberts Cup semi final at Malmesbury Victoria between The Beeches and Blunsdon.

Hatherop also have an outside chance of taking the Cirencester & District League Div Two title but it would be a major shock if Ashton Keynes Reserves can win at The Beeches this Saturday, the only result which would give Hatherop any chance of leapfrogging the leaders.
