Bluefin Sport Supplementary Cup

Didcot Town Reserves 0

Fairford Town 5

FAIRFORD Town rounded off the 2015/16 season with a comprehensive 5-0 Bluefin Sport Supplementary Cup victory.

The Reds dominated the encounter from start to finish against a Didcot Town Reserves side who had a man dismissed just after the half-hour mark.

The game was staged at Flackwell Heath FC, and Fairford began strongly backed by plenty of support who had boarded the packed team coach from Gloucestershire.

A pinpoint cross from Jason Milhench found Jack Ellis whose downward header opened the scoring with 14 minutes played.

Danny Hale struck the side netting four minutes later before Aaron Gray saw his effort saved by Ben Mitchell at the other end.

Didcot went down to 10 men nine minutes before the break with Jack Hollister receiving his marching orders for a second yellow card following a late challenge on Steve Hall.

Fairford turned their pressure into a second goal on 39 minutes with Hale heading home to ensure a two-goal cushion going into the break.

Ellis, whose goals had helped Fairford reach the final, was enjoying his afternoon and the pick of the strikes arrived seven minutes after the restart.

A firm challenge from Milhench in midfield played Ellis through, and his right-footed curler from just inside the box rocketed past Adam Spurrett to make it 3-0.

Hale added a fourth goal with a drive from the edge of the box on 62 minutes before Luke Cordery had an effort cleared off the line with Fairford in total control.

Ellis smashed home the fifth to seal his hat-trick on 70 minutes and further chances came for Hale, Dan Hill and substitute James Lawrence-Forbes.

The full-time whistle blew to bring the curtain down on a successful Fairford Town season, before long-serving captain Matt Boucher stepped up to lift the trophy as the champagne began to flow.
