Stow 29 Bletchley 21

STOW won a very entertaining encounter against Bletchley and picked up a try bonus point in the process.

From the off both sides were keen to run the ball and it was Stow who opened the scoring.

Nick Cafearo broke from his own half then slipped the ball to Billy Maude who in turn drew the last man before passing to Chris Powseland for a touchdown close to the posts; Cafearo converted.

Bletchley converted a penalty to open their account before a great interception by Billy Maude inside his own half led to a try under the posts, leaving Cafearo an easy conversion. Another Bletchley penalty kept them in touch but Stow went further ahead when Cafearo again broke from inside his own half, with James Holmes on hand to take play into the 22.

A neat offload to Dan Salvage resulted in another converted try under the posts.

Despite a third penalty for the visitors on the half-time whistle, Stow still had a healthy 21-9 lead.

The second half saw Bletchley come out strongly and cut the Stow lead, with a neat blind side move creating an overlap for a try.

Stow hit back immediately, Holmes making a telling run from 40 metres with Maude on hand to make further ground before passing for Dave Lane to go over for Stow’s fourth try.

Time was now running out but a Bletchley lineout was deemed to be brought down giving them a converted penalty try.

Stow were not done, however, as Cafearo kicked a penalty to leave Stow worthy winners and end a very up and down season on a high.
