Cirencester IIs were narrowly defeated in the Combination Cup Quarter Final against Dursley IIs.

Dursley dominated the opening twenty minutes having large amounts of both possession and territory.

Their pack and back row dominated the breakdown and carried hard into the opposition.

A lack of composure and soft penalties in the red zone lead to Dursley failing to convert pressure into points, keeping Cirencester in the game.

Eventually the Cirencester defence relented and man of the match, scrum half Sam Pinker, spotted a gap on the fringe and darted in to open the scoring.

Cirencester then started to gain possession and some pattern to their game which gave them the chance to come back against Dursley who defended well for periods close to their try line.

A mistake from Dursley in the Cirencester 22 allowed Cirencester to break away and score before half-time, the conversion gave the home side a slender 7-5 lead at half time.

In the second half, Dursley carried hard in the forwards and Cirencester tried to use their wide backs.

Pressure went back and forth with the game up for grabs from either side throughout the half and it was Dursley who seemed to be more effective with their possession.

Their pack exerted more dominance and, in the closing stages, Dursley thought they had the winning score but Andy Plumridge was adjudged to have been held up by the referee.

This resulted in a five yard scrum with only minutes left on the clock.

After a series of resets, number 8 Camm, picked up and powered over to give the away team the 7-10 win.
