JORDAN WEAVING topped the timing sheets in pre-season testing last week ahead of the start of the 2016 British Superstock 600 season.
Official testing took place at Silverstone and Donington and the 18-year-old former Cirencester Deer Park student from Woodchester had a strong opening day at the Northampton circuit.
Weaving maintained he was focusing on his set-up rather than lap times yet he and his Russo Racing Kawasaki still finished day one on top of the speed charts.
Despite his strong pace, the KeyWay-sponsored rider knows not to get ahead of himself before the season opener this weekend at Silverstone.
Weaving said: "Testing went very well last week. I was just doing five-lap runs all day, changing things on the bike and experimenting with what worked best and what didn't.
"I didn't spend the day chasing times so I have no idea how I ended on top. I suppose it's all about feeling together with the bike, which is what I was feeling all day.
"I hope the race weekend is just as good because testing and racing are two different things; we won't count our chickens. Myself and my team will just keep our heads down, keep working hard and take it one race at a time."
