Glos Northern Senior Div Two

Bibury 2 Winchcombe Town 2

BIBURY are 10 points clear with four games remaining in Division Two of the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League despite being held to a 2-2 home draw by Winchcombe Town.

Results elsewhere went in Bibury's favour as third-placed Bredon – their main title rivals who have three games in hand – lost at Lydbrook Athletic to remain 11 points adrift.

The forecast wind and heavy rain arrived right on cue at the start of the game with Winchcombe and it was the visitors who created the first decent chance, shooting over the bar from a good position.

At the other end the Winchcombe 'keeper made a sharp save from James Keylock.

On the half-hour mark Winchcombe took the lead; a free kick from distance was pumped forward with the help of a following wind and it deceived Bibury 'keeper Steve Luce before hitting the underside of the crossbar and dropping over the line.

Five minutes later Winchcombe doubled their lead with a well-taken goal but just minutes later Bibury were back in it thanks to a goal from Ashley Rockley, who finished well after a rebound off the 'keeper.

With the half-time break approaching Bibury levelled the match when a corner from Rockley was met with a well-placed header from Dom O'Neill.

Conditions worsened at the start of the second half.

Sub Scott Reynolds saw a shot well saved but Bibury were soon down to 10 men after a red card for Kanne Outram.

Thomas Montgomery thought he had put Bibury ahead for the first time but his header was ruled out for offside.

Winchcombe saw another chance go wide just before the players were temporarily taken off the field by the ref due to the torrential rain.

The rain eased and they returned to the pitch to play out the final five minutes with no further goals added.

Bibury MoM: Ashley Rockley.
