CIA Arthur Shipway Memorial Cup quarter final

Wroughton Reserves 2 Oaksey 3

WINLESS in the league, the improving Oaksey, resplendent in their new sponsored M4 Karting kit, claimed an unlikely place in the Arthur Shipway Cup semi-final when coming from two goals down at Wroughton thanks to a Chappie Trimble hat-trick.

Both sides were fielding weakened teams and although the visitors started brightly it was Wroughton who began to take control and were 1-0 up after 20 minutes.

The home side could have put the game to bed by half-time but erratic finishing, resolute defending and Oaksey keeper Harrie Wilson kept Wroughton at bay until what appeared to be the killer blow came on the hour mark when Wroughton went 2-0 ahead from the penalty spot.

This had the effect of spurring Oaksey on and in the 75th minute Jamie Jobbins hit the post from the edge of the penalty box and Chappie Trimble netted the rebound to make it 2-1.

Oaksey pressed forward and Toby Horton, Sam Hainsworth and Trimble exchanged passes before Trimble bagged the equaliser.

Oaksey were looking the stronger and fitter team at this stage and as Wroughton wasted their now sporadic scoring chances, Horton made a run into the box and was brought down by home keeper Liam Keville.

Referee Graham Dancer hesitated for a moment before pointing to the penalty spot and Trimble stepped up to claim his hat-trick as Oaksey doubled their wins for the season.
