ENGLAND amateur international Josh Hilleard put the pros in the shade in the latest Gloucestershire & Somerset PGA Medal at Saltford.

Josh's superb four-under-par 65 gave him a two-shot victory over experienced European Tour player David Dixon in the 32-strong field.

Talented left-hander Hilleard dropped an early shot at the second but immediately regained it at the third. Only a birdie at the eighth broke his par run as he reached the turn one under. A birdie two at the 10th doubled that figure but he dropped another stroke at the 13th before a trio of birdies from the 14th took him clear of his playing partner Dixon, who is heading out to South Africa for the next leg of the European tour.

Cirencester head pro Ed Goodwin continued his good recent run with a three-over-par 72 which gave him a share of fourth place.

Goodwin's finish moved him up to third place in the Total Triumph Order of Merit and he added to his winnings by taking home the Over 40s sweep and a share of the 'most birdies' pot with Dixon.
