Bluefin Sports Supplementary Cup

Fairford Town 2 Easington Sports 1

FAIRFORD Town progressed to the next round of the Bluefin Sports Supplementary Cup with a 2-1 home win over Easington Sports on Tuesday evening.

The Reds had to come from behind but raised their game in the second period to ensure a place in the next round of the competition.

Jordan Jeacock opened the scoring with just 14 minutes on the clock, firing home following a corner to give the Oxfordshire side the advantage.

The home response saw Jack Ellis test visiting 'keeper Jack Goode before the stopper made an excellent save to deny Lee Smith on the half-hour mark.

Goode was called into action again soon after to deny Dan Hill, but the defender levelled the affair on the stroke of half-time when his left footed drive found its way into the bottom corner.

Fairford came out of the blocks sharply after the interval and were soon in front for the first time in the game. A cross from Ellis was handled inside the box and Danny Hale stepped up to slam home the spot kick.

Ben Mitchell made a smart stop after the hour while solid defending from Luke Cordery and Scott Chilcott continued to deny the visitors.

All three substitutes were used with Tom Ballard, Jack Bright and Mitch Petrie stepping off the bench to help the home side seal a first home win of 2016.
