DAN Cooper completed his 2015 international road racing season on a high note with a strong 11th place finish in the Macau Grand Prix on Saturday.

The 27-year-old former Cirencester Kingshill pupil was back on his Space Centre Racing Honda Superstock machine for his fourth outing at the Far East venue.

Dan started the week with a 15th place in the Thursday morning free practice session, before shaving four seconds off his lap time in the afternoon to claim 11th on the provisional leaderboard.

The following morning saw perfect conditions on the 3.8 mile road circuit and Dan improved his best lap time by over a second to qualify 12th overall and be the first Superstock machine on the 30-strong grid.

The former 125cc British Champion had a solid start to the 12-lap race on Saturday, maintaining his position within the top 12.

Running in close formation with fellow BMW riders Lee Johnston and David Johnson, the latter overhauled Dan before he, in turn, overtook the PBM Kawasaki of James Storrarr.

Stuart Easton went out just after half-race distance moving Dan into 11th, which he held until the chequered flag, just two seconds adrift of a top ten finish.

The result completed an excellent season for Dan, which saw him win the Isle of Man TT Privateer’s Trophy and get his first international podium at the Ulster Grand Prix.

“I think we did the best with what we had,” said Dan. “I’m really happy with how the race went, the end result and how I rode.

“It’s been a good year for me and I’d like to thank all my sponsors for making it a memorable season and now I’m really looking forward to 2016.”
