SWINDON TOWN’S downward spiral continued on Tuesday night when they were dumped out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy 2-0 by their bitter local rivals Oxford United.
Town had looked comfortable at 0-0 but the game turned with the sending off of centre back Jordan Turnbull on the half-hour, while Brad Barry was subsequently substituted and taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital after being knocked unconscious in a clash of heads.
Both will now miss Saturday’s home clash with Peterborough bringing the number of Mark Cooper’s 25-man first team squad who are unavailable through injury, suspension or international duty to 10.
Among the absentees is Ireland U21 international Jordan Stewart who is being lined up for a transfer after leaving the club due to home-sickness without making a single start.
Swindon Town are 17th in League One following the defeat to Blackpool on Saturday.
