Cirencester Golf Club
Ladies' section
ON Thursday, more than 30 ladies from Cirencester GC travelled for the lady captain's away day to the Vale Golf Club in Worcestershire.
The day was blessed with excellent weather unlike the Captain's Day in July.
The course was in excellent condition and it was great to see Ryan Dix who is the professional there. Ryan used to be at Cirencester GC.
The ladies played in threes with a stableford bowmaker format – best two scores counting.
The winning team with 83 points was Chris Park, Jan Flynn and ladies' captain Jayne Worthington.
Runners-up with a score of 77 points were Muriel Telling, Bonnie Green and Irena Windslow.
The winner of the par 3 competition organised by Chris Park was Liz Dodd with ten points. Nearest the pin on the fifth was Angela Canty and the longest drive on the 16th was from Hilary Swan.
October Medal
ON Saturday, there was an additional monthly medal with the ladies playing in the men's field.
This gave some of the lady members an opportunity to play with their husbands.
The winner of the silver division was Deb Mills with a net score of 74; the bronze division went to Paddy Challens, whose net score of 71 also won the overall prize.
Captain's Foursomes
This was followed by the final of the Captain's Foursomes in which Ali Kelly and Hilary Swan beat Jane Brodrick and Paula Lester-Powell, with Emma Brereton as the referee.
Ellett Cup
The Ellett Cup was played on Final's Day (Sunday). Fiona Harrington, after an amazing gross 41 on the front nine holes, had beaten Julie Clough by the 12th hole.
Lea Finding was the referee for this match.
