Seniors Four Ball Knockout
THE five rounds of the Seniors' Four Ball Knockout competition reached its conclusion in September with an entry of 32 teams being reduced to the final two pairs – Dave Walters & David Clarke and Robin Worthington & Robin Johnson.
The hard-fought final resulted in Worthington & Johnson emerging as champions after some exceptional golf from Worthington who holed a huge putt on the 13th green for a birdie.
The beaten semi-finalists were Robert Evans & Bob Hadley and David Findlay & Gerry Bruton.
Seniors Individual Singles Knockout
PETER KNIGHT beat David Neale on the last green of a great match for the Seniors Individual Singles Knockout final this year.
An entry of 52 players began the quest back in April.
The beaten semi-finalists were Graham Morgan and David Jones.
Knockout Plate
THERE were 20 entries for the Knockout Plate played from June through to the start of October with Jim Donovan pipping Ken Mills 2&1 in the final.
Jim raced ahead to be four up at the turn but Ken pegged him back and the match was only concluded in the 17th green.
Broadway 4 Cirencester 2
CIRENCESTER seniors lost their last match of the season when they visited Broadway on Wednesday.
Despite the overall 4-2 loss, Clive Bennett and Graham Morgan won their game 6&5 by dovetailing their individual best holes to very good effect.
Nigel Curtis continued his excellent season to win his match with Alan Smith 3&2.
David Soar & Gerald Park fought an epic struggle but eventually lost by 2&1 while the other Cirencester pairings found the going tough.
