CIRENCESTER head pro Ed Goodwin shot a flawless four-under par round of 67 in the Burnham and Berrow 125th anniversary pro-am in Somerset and would have taken home the top prize but for the form of two ex-European Tour players.

Goodwin shared second spot with former Ryder Cup star Philip Price but they were both a shot adrift of Minehead pro John Bickerton in this prestigious PGA West Region tournament.

FORMER South Cerney pro Ross Langdon has moved to the top of the Total Triumph Order of Merit after finishing runner-up in the latest Gloucestershire and Somerset PGA Medal at Mendip Spring.

Langdon shot a one-under par 70 to miss out by just a shot to David Dixon, the Enmore Park’s touring professional.

Dixon had missed the opening medal of the season at Cirencester last week as he was part of the historic Great Britain & Ireland PGA Cup-winning team in California.

Langdon may have had to settle for runners-up money for the second week running but surely his first win since returning to the G&S PGA won’t be too far away on the form he is showing.

Nick Ellis of Naunton Downs finished in a share for fifth with his three-over par 74 and Cirencester head pro Goodwin was one shot back (75) in a tie for eighth.
