THE Knight Frank Dauntsey Park Horse Trials (2), which takes place from October 2-4 near Malmesbury, is offering its largest prize purse to date – £2,500 – for the Open Intermediate competition on the opening day.

The Open Intermediate should be a very competitive class with Swindon-based Sir Mark Todd on NZB Land Vision looking to retain his crown.

But he faces stiff competition from British Badminton riders Lou Harwood on Mr Potts and Lucy Wiegersma on Mr Chunky, as well as a strong Australian representation from Chris Burton and Sam Griffiths.

The class has a truly international look with riders from the US, France, Italy, Japan and the UK world class squad.

The cross country course that uniquely crosses the River Avon twice has been designed by international event rider and organiser Beanie Sturgis and it's sure to prove a great challenge.

More than 780 riders will compete over the weekend, many based in the region.
