Cirencester League, Division Two;

Oaksey Reserves 3 Blunsdon 4

OAKSEY Reserves got off to a good start with a nicely taken goal from Dan Pike.

Unfortunately he was unable to continue and was replaced early on by Kristian Trimble and within minutes it was Trimble who scored to give Oaksey Reserves a deserved 2-0 lead.

Blunsdon rallied and took the game to Oaksey and pegged them back to 2-1.

But Oaksey take control again with a third goal scored by centre half Kyle Fitzsimmons, who scrambled in Bradley Wickson's fine cross from a free kick.

With a comfortable lead and cruising at this point, Oaksey should have won the game comfortably and if Trimble, who produced a superb piece of individual play to go past the defender, had found the net, or slipped the ball to the unmarked George Kent to score then the contest would have been over.

But the Blunsdon keeper pulled off a fine save to keep them in the game.

Blunsdon capitalised on this with a fine goal just before the break, to take them to 3-2.

While Blunsdon's second goal lifted their heads, Oaksey's dropped.

This shift of tempo gave Blunsdon the impetus to score an equaliser and then take the lead, albeit with a somewhat fortuitous bounce off the keeper.

Despite several close efforts and some fine saves from the Blunsdon keeper, Oaksey could not find the net to close the gap and salvage a point. Blunsdon saw the game out to secure a fine win against the odds.
