Tetbury racing driver Ollie Chadwick ensured the battle for the 2015 Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge title will go down to the final event of the season at Donington Park next month, after securing two race wins and a second place finish at Snetterton over the weekend.

In dominant form throughout the penultimate race meeting of the campaign, the 19-year-old set a blistering pace in qualifying and backed it up with three superb race performances in rounds 16, 17 and 18 to close to within 34 points of series leader James Kellett.

Starting race one on Saturday afternoon from pole position, Ollie slipped to second behind Kellett initially but applied relentless pressure and eventually regained the lead on lap four – breaking the lap record in the process with a time of 2m09.399 seconds (82.59mph average).

Beginning race two from second on the grid, the Xentek Motorsport driver was a constant thorn in pole-starter Kellett’s side but Ollie wasn’t quite able to force the required mistake from his chief rival and instead had to settle for second. He again posted the fastest lap, bettering his own benchmark to reduce the lap record further with a time of 2m09.261 seconds (82.68mph average).

In the third and final contest the Gloucestershire teenager was shuffled back to third from second but when the skies above Norfolk opened early in the race, Ollie was able to use all of his experience to the full by producing a masterful performance on slick tyres on an increasingly wet track.

Clawing back second place on lap two, he then made a successful bid for the lead on the fifth tour and despite a lot of pressure from Kellett during the second half of the race Ollie was able to hold on to the lead to win again – with the fastest lap into the bargain.

“I always like racing at Snetterton and I enjoyed this weekend – all the ingredients of close, tight racing with nothing to spare, in a really good ‘one make’ championship”, said Ollie, “In the dry we had to squeeze everything out of the car on every lap. In the wet and worsening conditions in race three though, being on slick tyres and with a full wet set-up, demanded huge care and concentration.

“The track was wet and greasy with no grip whatsoever but we managed to bring the car home for another win which was great. Overall it’s been a good weekend’s work and, as ever, a big thank you to the Xentek Motorsport team for all their support.”
