When I came back to Gloucestershire, the 50 over competition was one the lads knew they could do well in, after having played some good cricket last year.

Our aim was to get to the quarter finals and beyond, so we’ve got to the first point where we wanted to be, and to get a home tie is a fantastic effort by the lads.

Whoever we were going to get pulled out against it was going to be tough, but we can take confidence from having beaten Hampshire in the T20 at Cheltenham. We know we need to improve on our last two performances in the 50 over competition but are looking forward to the challenge.

Looking after our game and making sure the lads do their job is vital. The conditions here aren't ideal, with the shape of the ground and things like that, but we'll also look at the opposition. We just have to make sure we are on form on the day.

A big strength for us is that we’ve got lads who can bat and bowl. For example, having someone like Benny Howell at number five who is also an integral bowler has given us flexibility in our line-up. And I think when we play well our fielding stands out. We’ve been inconsistent with in the 50 over competition but when we are on-song we have saved a lot of runs.

We’ve had people contributing with bat and ball, often from positions that aren’t their most comfortable but doing a job for the team and getting us over the line.

You can look through the whole squad and everyone’s made a winning contribution.

Michael Klinger is back in the squad which is fantastic news, as is the fact that he just signed a new two-year contract with the club.

His performances this year in all formats have been outstanding. He offers a hell of a lot on the pitch and is also great in the dressing room helping to develop this group of players.

We’ve played some great cricket in the one-day stuff here and the crowds have been fantastic and we just want that to carry on. We know we need to perform and work hard as well but would be brilliant to have a full house.

Big games like this you just have to enjoy the experience and embrace it.

We’ve played some good teams in big games with a lot of pressure - getting to last over, last ball finishes and we can take a lot of confidence from getting into those positions and getting a win.

It’s those experiences that can help us when we come to play Hampshire.
