Sweetfuels CDCA Div Three
Great Rissington II 188-2; Cirencester III 187-7
ELECTING to bat first on a sunny afternoon, Cirencester thirds suffered an eight-wicket loss to promotion-chasing Great Rissington 2nd XI.
Proceedings didn’t get off to a good start for Ciren with Jon Turner caught and bowled by Ian Temple-Richmond for two.
Teenagers Mike Howell (39) and Jack Beattie (28) stabilised the innings, but following their dismissals, a flurry of wickets left Cirencester on 133-7 in the 32nd over. Matt Winter (3-42) caused most of the damage.
It was left to Will Sherwood (71*) and Gregor Pilkington (27*) to lift the score to 187-7, providing the bowlers with a target to defend.
Great Rissington never looked in too much trouble and Ross Tyler made his own luck as he scored an industrious century to further push for a 1st XI place.
Tyler was unable to get anything in the way of a Phil Carter (1-6) delivery, and was bowled for 102.
Thirty one wides, didn’t help proceedings and George Seagrave (21*) saw Rissington safely home in the 36th over.
