The Wychwood 3½ Cirencester 2½

THE Wychwood Seniors managed to gain revenge for their defeat earlier in the year at Cirencester when playing the reverse fixture at their own course.

The Cirencester teams of Mark Woodhead & Robert Evans and John Parsons & Andrew Tunnicliffe fought hard to win their matches but the final result was a 3½ to 2½ win for The Wychwood.

Clive Bennett & David Finlay were unable to claim their customary victory but they did have to give 11 shots to the seniors' captain from The Wychwood on his own course which proved to be too much of a mountain to climb!

Cirencester 3½ Broadway 2½

THE match against Broadway seniors was a very tight contest but Cirencester fought hard and eventually came away with a 3½ to 2½ victory.

The top Cirencester teams were Bob Allen & Alan Smith with a 3&1 win and Clive Bennett & Graham Morgan with a 3&2 victory thanks largely to a very solid round by Graham.

John Hall & Gordon Stone also won their match with Gerry Bruton & John Pugh coming home with a halved game.

Cirencester 4½ Bowood 1½

BOWOOD'S first ever visit to Cirencester ended with an identical result to the reverse fixture earlier in the season – a 4½ to 1½ victory for Cirencester.

As this was the first year for the two clubs to play against each other, everyone was delighted at the new fixture and are looking forward to many more years of competition.

Last-minute reserves Nigel Curtis & John Canty played well to secure a 2&1 victory.

There were also good wins for Roy Lipscombe & Joe Hickey, Gerry Bruton & Tony Grimwade and John Thurston & David Lowbridge with captain Clive Bennett & Mike Helyer coming home to record a half in a competitive game when even big-hitting Clive was outdriven on most holes.
