Running Somewhere Else
Ironman Zurich
ANDY SAMPSON of the Running Somewhere Else club in Cirencester completed the Zurich Ironman on Sunday in a splendid overall time of 13hr 25min 13sec.
The race started with a 3.8km open water swim in the crystal clear waters of Lake Zurich which Andy completed in 1:41.09.
The subsequent 180km cycle ride – two laps with a total vertical climb of 1,300 metres conquering “Heartbreak Hill” – was lined with spectators cheering and ringing Swiss cowbells. Andy finished that section in 6:40.47.
The race ended with a full marathon, four laps of a fairly flat course through the heart of one of the world’s most important financial centres and along the beautiful shores of Lake Zurich.
Andy's marathon time was 4:48.15.
Swindon Parkrun
SIX RSE members ran in last weekend's Swindon 5k parkrun at Lydiard Park.
First home for the club was Mark Manley in 21.01, followed by Ben Chapman (22.16), Matt Lambourne (24.01), Steve Sandercock (25.32), Caroline Sandercock (31.33) and Elspeth Murano (42.09).
Bourton One Mile Challenge
BRIAN PITT and Sharon Smith competed in the Bourton One Mile Challenge on Saturday.
The race was part of the Glos AAA Championship and there were brilliant results from Sharon (7.08) who received gold in her LV65 age category, while Brian (6.56) received silver in MV70.
