SHARON LAWS was unable to follow the lead of her Bigla Pro Cycling team-mates who have collected six national titles this year.
Following the double success of Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio in South Africa back in February, Bigla riders have claimed national titles over recent days in Finland (Lotta Lepistö with two wins), Switzerland (Doris Schweizer) and Canada (Joelle Numainvile).
Laws, from Bourton-on-the-Water, though she is currently based in Girona, Spain, lined up for the British National Road Race Championship – a title she won in 2012 – in Lincoln on Sunday.
Having had a restricted preparation due to a broken collar bone earlier in the season , she could finish no better than ninth, two minutes behind the winner Lizzie Armitstead as the race concluded in the shadow of Lincoln Cathedral.
Sharon tweeted: "Disappointing day, dropped chain at crucial moment missing front split. Worked hard to rejoin race, succeeded, but matches burnt for finale."
