PHOEBE PETERS has been selected for the British team which will compete at this year’s Pony European Championships in Malmo, Sweden from August 5-9.

Phoebe, from Moreton-in-Marsh is the veteran of the party at 16 years old.

She is joined in the four-strong team by Rebecca Bell (15) from Faringdon, Isobel Berrington (15) from Welwyn, and Clare Hole (13) from Bury St Edmunds.

Phoebe will be riding her regular mount SL Lucci.

First reserve is Angus Corrie-Deane (15) from Salisbury.

There will be a pre-Europeans training camp at Kilbees Farm in Berkshire at the end of July before the squad make the journey to Sweden.

Phoebe, who was the 2013 Pony European Dressage champion and silver medallist in the same competition last year, said: "I'm very excited to be representing GB at mine and Lucci's fourth and final Pony Europeans together."

The record-breaking dressage rider admits she is in the form of her life having lifted the Hickstead Masters U21 Championship earlier this month.

The combination posted a score of 79.4% to win the pony team test by an impressive 7%.

Phoebe and Lucci hold the international world records in the pony FEI team test, scoring 80.12% at Compiègne last year, and the pony freestyle test with 84% – posted at the 2013 Pony European Championships in Arezzo.
