Cotswold Way Relay, Chipping Campden to Bath, 103-mile, 10-stage relay

CIRENCESTER captain Kate Fitton was ecstatic with her team' performances at the Cotswold Way Relay.

Cirencester had two mixed teams of ten; Ciren Black (13:01.35) finished fourth team overall and won the mixed category by some 20 minutes. Fifty per cent of the Black team placed in the top five on their stage.

The Red team (16:14.09) were 59th home out of 99, and finished 21st in the mixed category.

Fitton said: "It was thoroughly enjoyable, seamlessly organised, glorious weather, no injuries – and those results!”

The event comprises ten back-to-back stages, each with a mass start at the expected arrival time of the lead runner from the previous stage. Being a team event it is hard to single out individuals but there were plenty of highlights.

Denis Galerin (1:29.57) was third on the 19km second stage and Jill Hadland (1:10.22) was fifth lady on the 13.2km third stage.

Adrian Williams ran 1:24.25 on the 20.4km fourth stage to finish and on the 14km stage six Ben Rosedale (1:06.44) came home third.

Fi Collings (1:03.33) was sixth on stage six with Bill Leggate (1:26.24) running fourth on the 19.4km stage eight.

Finally, to clinch team victory, Wendy Nicholls (1:09.37) was third overall and first lady on the 15.7km final stage.

Cotswold 51.5 Triathlon, 1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run

LAURENCE GIFFIN (2:13.57) continues his good results, finishing a strong tenth and Lisa Stevens (2:27.15) had a good event in 35th overall for sixth lady.

Martin Pulley (2:32.29) focuses on just a few triathlons and finished 55th, while Trudy Compton (3:04.47), after running a stage the previous day at the Cotswold Way Relay, was 143rd. Kieran Hall (Jackpot Racing) won in 2:03.34.

Avenger Triathlon, Ragley Hall, Warks, 1km swim, 46km bike, 10km trail run

WITH variable distances and on a very windy day, Sarah Gunn: (2:46.11) finished an age-group first, third lady and 17th overall with the second fastest ladies' bike time at the Avenger Triathlon. Richard Shephard (Atkins Cycles) won in 2:16.00.

Longest Day 10km, Chippenham, roads

AMY BENTLEY (43.04) ran an impressive race to finish third lady and 37th overall. Simon Akers (58.06) was back racing and finished 191st out of 281. Simon Nott (33.12) of Calne RC won.

Parkruns, 5km trails

AT CHELTENHAM Jason Humm finished 221st in 28.07 out of 401 and in Burnage Geoff Wells was 16th out of 67 finishers in 23.09.
