Triton Brecon Middle Distance Triathlon

A HALF-IRONMAN looks just as daunting as the full distance but Steve Yates is made of stern stuff and was first V40 and fourth overall in a field of 170.

He did 29.15 for the 1.2-mile swim, 2:55.52 on the 60-mile bike leg and 1:33.01 for the 13.1-mile run to complete a total time of 5:00.07.

Another Ciren athlete, Peter Rowland, had a good workout finishing 138th in 7:22.59. James Hadley won in 4:40.02.

Broad Town ‘5’, five miles road

ADRIAN WILLIAMS, newly turned 40, is a man on a mission to pick up some more CAC age-group records, but he fell 19 seconds short of Dave Wright's best time set on the same course a number of years ago.

Adrian finished fourth of 203 finishers and his time of 27.54 earned him second V40. Simon Nott, (Calne Running Club) won in 26.41.

Deva Triathlon, Chester 1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run

JON WICKETT and Jon Hiscock competed in Chester and performed admirably, finishing less than two minutes apart.

Wickett (2:07.45) finished 105th overall pulling away by two minutes. Despite a slower run he held on to the lead with Hiscock finishing 125th in 2:09.19. James Travers, (Bristol and District Tri) won in 1:53.41 and 1,075 finished.

Swindon Parkrun, 5km trail

MIKE FIRTH ran well, leading home the Ciren contingent with a 20.19 for 19th place and second MV45-49.

Luke Buck, looking to set a PB every time he competes, was disappointed despite winning the M11-14 category. Barbara Thomas was first FV55 in 176th place.

RESULTS. 1, Lawrence Winter 17.40; 19, Mike Firth 20.19; 34, Luke Buck 21.21; 176, Barbara Thomas 25.59; 216, Stephen Buck, 27.30; 406, David Moss 34.33. 479 finished.

Banbury Parkrun, 5km trails

COLIN TAPLEY, out of racing for about a year with a knee injury, was pleased to be back and complete “a nice steady run.” He finished in 30th place in 23.35. Ian Keen won in 18.03 and 153 finished.

Aldridge 10km, Walsall, roads

DICK WALDRON made his annual visit to run in this popular Midlands race, with its “two killer hills,” and was second V70 finishing 235th out of 335. Yousel Al Lathana (Birchfield Harriers) won in 33.21.

White Horse 5km, Gloucester, roads

A SMALL Field of 51 in this competitive evening event saw Ciren’s Barbara Thomas finish 42nd in 25.38. Richard Dare (Cheltenham Harriers) won in 16.17.
