IT was raining medals for cirencester gymnasts group at a Forest of Dean championships they took part in.

A team from Cirencester-based Cotswold Gymnastics rose to the challenge at the County Girls Novice Floor and Vault competition held at the Forest of Dean Gymnastics and Fitness Centre in Coleford on Sunday, April 19.

Among six medal winners were Sophie Gadd, who snatched gold, Olivia Hanham who won silver and Courtney May who won bronze.

Sally Woodley, a spokeswoman for Cotswold Gymnastics said: “The group was not as big as they would have normally taken, due to the surprise change of date from June to April leaving them with little time to get prepared against some fierce competition. But as seen in previous competitions Cotswold Gymnastics rose to the challenge.”

“Results were good overall and the medal tally reflects the hard work. Thank you to Andy Finlayson & Drew Marriott for judging and also thanks to Rachel Rodgers, Claire Marriott, Megan Sheridan and Jessica Marriot for coaching the girls on the day.”

Cotswold Gymnastics held their annual competition at Cirencester Deer Park on Saturday. Report to follow.
