MINCHINHAMPTON Rugby Club were formally awarded prestigious RFU accreditation by the chairman of the Gloucestershire RFU, Peter Williams on Thursday evening.

The accreditation scheme provides a framework in which a club can consistently demonstrate its performance and success, and identify areas for improvement, such as the recruitment, retention and development of players.

Club chairman Pete Varley said: “This award is a team effort and recognition for the commitment and capabilities of a large number of volunteers who help make Minchinhampton rugby club such a success."

In presenting the award, Williams said: “These are exciting times for the club with excellent pitches on their Hollybush ground and a strong momentum being established towards the building of their clubhouse, which will at last give them a permanent home.

"Minch has shown they are a beacon club in the county and a fine example in how to achieve aspirations which others can follow.”

The presentation topped off a very good week for the club who were honoured to host a week-long Rugby for Heroes' 'transition through rugby coaching course' for serviceman as they switch from military to civilian life.
