Oaksey Res 4 Blunsdon 4

OAKSEY RESERVES, undaunted by their semi final cup defeat against Blunsdon, earned a 4-4 draw in the league against the same side, although they needed a late equaliser to grab a point.

Blunsdon got the early goals, a simple tap-in from a ball laid back from the byline and a deflected shot that left the keeper stranded, making it 2-0 at half-time.

The home side came out determined to stamp their authority on the game after the break and were rewarded with a fine goal from top scorer, Gareth Roberts.

This galvanised his team who started to play some decent football. However, it was Blunsdon who scored again to regain the two-goal advantage.

A spirited Oaksey side kept plugging away and once again it was Roberts who narrowed the gap to one.

Almost inevitably Blunsdon scored once more but that man Roberts kept his side in the game when clinching a fine hat-trick with his 30th goal of the season.

With the match in the balance, Oaksey made it 4-4 thanks to Nicky Warman finding the corner of the net.
