M4 Karting Cirencester & District League Division Two
Stratton 2
Oaksey Reserves 2
THE Cirencester league clash between Stratton and Oaksey Reserves proved to be a tightly fought one.
Stratton took the lead in the first half, with a neatly taken header from a well-directed cross.
Oaksey levelled with a well taken goal from Adam Topping making it 1-1 at the break.
Oaksey were forced to make changes early in the second half, which released Tom Topping from full back duties to midfield.
This proved beneficial to the visitors as he put pressure on the Stratton defence with some energetic foraging.
However it was Stratton who took the lead again when a bad bounce fell in their favour and the ball was laid back to the edge of the box for an unmarked midfielder to smash home.
Oaksey refused to lie down and it was the industrious Tom Topping, picked out by a fine ball from centre half Dan Strange, who levelled the score with a sweet lob over the keeper.
Stratton almost stole the 3 points, but were denied by Oaksey keeper Jordan Brooks, who pulled off a remarkable double save.
