MINCHINHAMPTON U10s were presented with the County Cup at a wet and windy Dursley RFC by Gloucester and England No.8 Ben Morgan.

Minch faced old foes Stow-on-the-Wold in their semi final with Jack Ordway-Huges, Wilf Mylechreest and Jack Blore tackling determinedly as the teams were scoreless at the interval. Cheered on by the injured Sam Grimsted and the watching England U18 squad, Minch increased the pressure on Stow and after Ruari Fryer was held up over the line, Jonny McLaughlan broke through the defence to score from short range.

James Harwanko, Jacob Lee and Taner Alpan helped keep Stow at bay as Minch earned their place in the final against St Brendans Old Boys who got past Bredon on the toss of a coin after their semi had ended scoreless.

In the final, St Brendans found the only gap in the Minch defence all day to break through and take an early lead.

Minch determinedly built pressure and eventually fed the ball to the left wing where Ioan Jones ran over to score in the corner.

After the break, Minchinhampton kept up the pressure and in the final moments Archie Powis drove over from short range to seal the title.

In a tight third place play-off, Stow ended level with Bredon but were given the nod on the silver try rule.
