MALMESBURY’S Danny Kent became the first British rider since legendary world champion Barry Sheene to win back-to-back Grand Prix races in Argentina at the weekend when he collected his second Moto3 race of 2015.

Following his runaway victory in Texas the previous week, which stunned the MotoGP paddock, Kent again totally dominated the field, crossing the line 10 seconds clear.

The 21-year-old has now broken the record for the greatest dry-weather winning margin in a Moto3 race and has further extended his lead in the Grand Prix series after just three races.

Kent hit the front on the third lap of 21 aboard his Leopard Racing machine and never looked back after starting from second on the grid.

Behind Kent there was a tight battle for the final steps on the podium as second to 15th position was covered by just 2.31 seconds at the line. It Kent’s team-mate Efren Vazquez who won the fight for second.

“Today it was important to take the lead as soon as possible because in this big group there were big battles everywhere in every corner," said Kent.

“I decided to push and as soon I was in front I started to pull away which went a bit easier than last time out.

"To be honest it wasn’t so difficult to stay focused at the front this time compared to Austin a week ago because of the tricky track conditions and wet patches there. But in the end to open a gap by 10 seconds came as a bit of a surprise for me.

"Overall, I’m so happy with this strong weekend in Argentina and since the start of this championship we have been strong. We just need to keep working in the same direction.”

With a 17-point lead in the championship standings after three rounds, Kent and his clearly red-hot Honda next travels to Spain for the first European race of the season at Jerez on May 3.
