SIDDINGTON SPORTS VETERANS' remarkable cup season continues as they reached their third final when they defeated Down Ampney 2-0 in the Alexcars Junior Charity Cup semi final.
Down Ampney started strongly but failed to take their chances, and once Siddington had settled they controlled the game with two second-half goals from Dennis King and James Richards seeing them through.
They will play Ashton Keynes in the final. Ashton Keynes' semi went with form as they won 7-1 win over Tetbury Town Thirds.
The Ashton goals came from a Scott Smith hat-trick, a brace from Richard Sutton, and further strikes from Kevin Horton and Chris Field; Derek Finlay replied for Tetbury.
Siddington are still also in contention for the Division Two title of the M4 Karting Cirencester League.
A further three points came from a 6-3 victory at Stratton United to keep them in touch with the leaders.
Wroughton Town Reserves still look the favourites, however, which was confirmed by their 12-1 thrashing of Sherston.
Steve Nesbitt and Jamie Pidgeon both scored four goals and Steve Leighfield three, with the dozen being made up by Joe Kuczyniski.
Down Ampney remain second after a narrow 3-2 win at Lechlade Reserves.
In the other games in Division Two, Blunsdon FC and South Cerney shared the points in a 0-0 draw, as did Oaksey Reserves and Tetbury Town Thirds who drew 3-3.
The Division One title race looks as if it could go to the final game of the season, although the result of the top-of-the-table clash between South Cerney and CHQ United this coming Saturday is likely to be pivotal.
Both sides gained three points last weekend with South Cerney beating Malmesbury Vics Reserves 3-0 and CHQ geting the better of The Beeches by 6-0.
Poulton drew 1-1 at Siddington Sports, the point probably sufficient to confirm them a third place finish in the League.
Poulton went ahead early on through a Jamie Marsh own goal but Danny Axford equalised. Luckless Minchinhampton Town went down 10-0 at home to Highworth Town Development for whom Adam Bartlett and Branden Fenwick both notched hat-tricks, and Stroud Fc secured a good 3-1 victory at Bibury Reserves.
