M4 Karting Cirencester League Div One
South Cerney 2 Poulton 4
DESPITE taking the lead in the second minute, league leaders South Cerney eventually lost only their third match of the season as Poulton gave a spirited performance to win well in the end.
James Hayward gave Cerney their early lead but with virtually the last move of an evenly contested first half, Dan Read levelled the scores.
Poulton had the better of the midfield battle in the second period and went ahead on 65 minutes through John Dawson, before ex-Poulton striker Steve Andrews equalised 10 minutes later.
Tom Carpenter restored Poulton’s lead with 10 minutes remaining and Dawson hit his second near the end to complete an excellent win which moved the side up to second in the table.
South Cerney remain top and well placed for the championship, while Poulton will rue a disappointing January when they lost four home matches and perhaps all chance of the title.
