Frome Town 0 Cirencester Town 1

CIRENCESTER TOWN grafted to a hugely valuable three points against an in-form side who had defeated two play-off contenders -  Hungerford and Weymouth - in the previous week.

Nat Jarvis and Ben Wells replaced Ed Williams and Brad Hooper respectively in the Ciren line-up, while Josh Parsons took a seat on the bench for his first involvement since the end of January due to a knee injury.

It was a game of few chances with both defences dominating.

On 15 minutes Cirencester had the first serious attempt on goal when Aidan Bennett’s low shot was turned around the post by Darren Chitty in the home goal.

Bennett also had a chance when Jarvis sent a ball from left edge of the area which his fellow striker volleyed wide of the left post.

Frome had two great chances to win the game in the second half but spurned both of them.

At the mid-point of the half, Matt Smith drove down the pitch to the front edge of the area before slipping the ball to Ben Thomson, who miskicked wide with the goal at his mercy.

In the 79th minute Frome created another good opportunity to open the scoring when Thomson cut inside on to his left foot but pulled his shot wide of the right post.

The deadlock was finally broken a minute later when Bennett carried the ball to the right edge of the area before sending a low cross towards the front post where Jarvis made a darting run to bundle it over the line.

It was Jarvis's 20th goal of the season and perhaps his most vital.
