WROUGHTON trainer Laura Thomas holds a strong hand at Siddington’s popular VWH point-to-point near Cirencester on Saturday, writes Peter Mansell.
Thomas could win the first two races with horses carrying the green and yellow colours of her father Norman. The family’s Credit Crunched and Full Throttle are the two highest-rated horses in the Member’s race (1.30) and the stable selection is capable of seeing off the challenges of Dream Garden and Thanks For Coming.
Bibury’s Scilla Phillips won this race last year with Moorland Sunset and will be keen to retain the trophy.
Credit Crunched and Full Throttle both also hold entries in the Confined race and the Thomas-selected is sure to start favourite.
Marblehead is proving a useful schoolmaster for Lilly Pinchin but it’s doubtful whether he has the speed to lay up with these rivals.
Miss Vivian is trained in Coln Rogers by Axelle Wall who has taken over from her husband Mark as the trainer of the stable’s point-to-pointers and their runners always pay to follow.
De Forgotten Man bids to follow-up last year’s victory in the Mixed Open, but he has not shown the same level of form over the last couple of months.
Barnaby Shaw won the Pegasus Club Member's race last year and the same stable is represented this time by That Beats Banaher.
