Friendly

Minchinhampton 32 Cheltenham Civil Service 14

MINCHINHAMPTON enjoyed a good day at Holly Bush when running out comfortable winners over Cheltenham Civil Service in a friendly.

CCS came with a pretty strong team and put in a solid performance but Minch dominated the set piece and by the end had gained the ascendancy in the breakdown too.

Minch scored first, going over from a driven line-out, and profited twice through Tom Fitzcharles sniping from around the breakdown for his tries.

Strong scrummaging brought tries for the forceful Fraser Smith (his second of the game) and Niall Kimber, who claimed his brace when finishing well after some good support play.

CCS were strong on the counter, which is where their two converted tries came from.

Jake Muskett converted two of the Minch tries and a penalty to cap good day for the hosts.

Minchinhampton Rams

THE RAMS entertained Bream at home in a friendly but had to borrow several of the visitors’ players due to regrettable last-minute withdrawals.

This game was played in a very good spirit, but the Bream winger had a field day scoring several tries with some lacerating runs from distance.

The Rams competed well despite their limited resources, posting four tries of their own but considerably fewer than Bream managed.

There were debut tries from young Jack Baker on the wing and James Headspeath, who finished well after an alert interception.

The other try scorers were Liam Eaglestone, who had a very good game, and Ian French on his welcome return from injury.
