Cirencester Ladies 0 Jaspers 5

CIRENCESTER dominated 85 per cent of the play in the opening half against league leaders Jaspers.

Ciren attacked the Jaspers goal with several short corners but none were converted.

Nonetheless the shape of the team was good and the passing was strong.

It all changed very quickly in the second half when Jaspers scored from an early break.

Cirencester, who had changed their structure a little to apply more pressure in attack, were now on the back foot.

Jaspers had a number of short corners but they too were struggling to convert.

Two more goals were conceded in open play but despite there being sufficient time to recover Ciren heads dropped and the fire in the bellies went out.

The end result did not reflect the full game and Cirencester played their best hockey of the season, although sadly only for one half.

Cirencester Men's II 2 Newent A 3

HAVING clawed their way back into the game with two second-half goals, Cirencester seconds were denied a point by a late Newent A winner.

Three core members of the Ciren squad were absent due to injury which required a reshuffle and they gave a debut to Sam D’Ambrosio in midfield.

Paul Craven slotted into right back and Jason Muir partnered Steve Foster-Grant in the middle, with Mark Armstrong at left back.

After a cautious start Ciren moved the ball well and retained possession but failed to execute any serious attempts on goal.

Toby Denning took control of the right midfield, applying pressure to Newent’s defence which eventually led to a series of short corners.

The energetic D’Ambrosio made a burst into the D but pinged his hamstring when stretching to shoot, with Ollie Latter better placed for the shot.

Ciren were 1-0 down at half-time and had only a bare 11 men due to injuries. From a penalty corner, Latter's strike rebounded off the keeper for Chris Pollard to put the ball away.

Responding to another Newent goal, Latter found himself one on one with the opposition keeper and flicked it past him to make it 2-2.

Unfortunately Newent nipped ahead towards the closing minutes with the winning goal.

MoM: Sam D’Ambrosio.

Stroud Ladies II 0 Cirencester Ladies II 0

THE defences won the day in the mid-table clash between Stroud and Cirencester which ended goalless.

In the second half Cirencester found more of a rhythm with some swift passing play through the midfield, but they struggled to create any opportunities.

Both teams had a series of short corners midway through the second half but the keepers were up to the task.

In the final minutes Ciren pressed hard for a winner but they found an equally determined Stroud defence.
