Cirencester League Div One
Poulton 5 Minchinhampton Town 1
A COMFORTABLE win for Poulton who would have won by a far bigger margin but for 16-year-old man of the match Caleb Powell, the Minchinhampton goalkeeper, who made a series of outstanding saves.
Minch are finding the going tough in their first season in the league, but Powell kept the scoreline to a reasonable level. And the visitors can take heart from a sporting, gutsy performance which caused Poulton several anxious moments early on.
Despite going ahead after only two minutes through Dan Read, Poulton took a long time to settle down and Minchinhampton equalised through James Lindsey 10 minutes later.
Poulton restored their lead from the spot after 30 minutes when Read was brought down, and he duly converted the penalty to lead 2-1 at half-time.
Poulton had the better of the second half with John Dawson making it 3-1 at the midway point.
Read completed his hat-trick with 15 minutes remaining and Luke Richards hit the fifth in the last minute.
